Glorious Body

Ephesians 1:22

.  .  . and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

Hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the Head over all things to the church, which is His body Eph. 1:22-23 Spoken of here are both feet and Head. Note the contrast. This is not a kingdom with its King of kings and Lord of lords.

Which is the Head, even Christ: from whom the whole body... Eph. 4:15-16 Reading the rest of this passage shows that growth and increase come from the Head, the Supplier. The main ingredient in this growth is love.

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the Head of the church: and He is the Savior of the body Eph. 5:23 The position as Head carries with it the attribute of authority and at the same time the tender relationship of a husband, and being a Savior.

And He is the Head of the body, the church Col. 1:18 There is no mistaking who is The Head and that The Body is The Church. The Head is also the firstborn from the dead, the preeminent one.

And ye are complete in Him, Which is the Head of all principality and power Col. 2:10 The members of The Body are filled to the full in Him. He is not only Head of The Church but of heavenly powers.

Vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding the Head Col. 2:18-19. Carnal Christians, those who are enemies of the cross, whose god is their belly, do not hold Christ as Head. They are starved spiritually because they receive no nourishment, as the context indicates.

That in The Dispensation of the fullness of times, He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him Eph. 1:10. This is The Mystery of God's will. The word Head is hidden in the long Greek word, which has to do with all things brought under one Head. Now is the fullness of the seasons in which this is accomplished. But we see it not yet. The day is coming when Christ will take over His power, both in heaven and on earth Matt. 28:18.

And take the helmet of salvation Eph. 6:17 Head is hidden in the word helmet. It is a headpiece or covering. It is salvation. Christ is our salvation. So this is a part of putting on Christ, which is the whole armor of God.

These eight references exhaust the usage of the word Head in The Prison Epistles. Summing them up, we begin to realize the greatness of the exaltation of The Great Redeemer. Read in connection with this, Phil. 2:5-11. This is our Great and Mighty Savior!

After having read and meditated upon the above Scriptures, and also their contexts, then begin to search out the references concerning a former Dispensation in which Christ is set forth as The King of Israel, their Messiah, and their Jehovah, finally culminating in the great title of King of kings and Lord of lords Rev. 19:16. And consider how that He was rejected and even crucified by Israel.

Then, also consider the conditions today and for the last 19 centuries. He has been rejected as Head. Christendom is looking to the rejected King of the Jews instead of The Head of The Church.
